The Cochrane Generals hockey team is back in action this weekend.
After a two-week holiday hiatus, the Gens will sharpen their skates for the first game of 2017 on Friday against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.
It’s the same team the Cochrane Junior B squad bested 5-3 on Dec. 17 at Strathmore’s Family Centre arena before going into the Christmas break.
Heading into the new year, the Generals sit comfortably in first place in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League with 47 points, including 23 wins and just four losses. The Okotoks Bisons are in second with 40 points. Strathmore is fourth.
The puck drops at 7 p.m. at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.
