The Bow Valley Grizzlies are back on the winning track.

Grizzlies defeated Red Deer Titans 24-10 in Calgary Rugby Union Second Division men’s play Aug. 15 in Cochrane, avenging a May loss at Red Deer and erasing the prior week’s loss to Saracens in Calgary.

Held in cool, damp conditions at Mitford Pond rugby pitch, Grizzlies pushed hard against a large Titans side.

“It’s one of those things where even though we didn’t have all the people we wanted at training, we just went over the basic stuff,” said Grizzlies fly half Ollie Mayo following the match. “We looked at the forecast and knew it was going to be crappy weather. So you have to adapt to that, obviously. We just calmed down and took it to them.”

Ty Hawes, Paul O’Grady and Matt Davis scored the Grizz tries with Mayo booting the converts.
