Howells running strong

On Nov. 7, St. Timothy High School student Alex Howells competed in the Alberta Cross-country Championships at Peace Hills Park, Wetaskiwin.

The University of Calgary Athletic Club (UCAC) member participated in the U18 Youth Championships at the event, which is Alberta Athletics’ season finale for all top club runners.

Howells had previously won Bronze in the Alberta HS Championships in Grand Prairie, and the Grade 12 student went one step further this time, finishing with a silver medal after completing a very tough six kilometre track.

The avid runner is next set to compete in the Canadian National Cross-country Championships in Kingston, Ont., on Nov. 28.
