The Cochrane Generals are challenging businesses to “Meet It or Beat It” as they celebrate their strong season and prepare for provincials.
The friendly competition is designed to help drum up funds for the Gens’ costly upcoming road trip to the Hockey Alberta provincial championships in St. Paul from March 30 to April 2.
Team manager Jacquie Thrussell said the town of Cochrane has been so supportive of the team – this sporting-style fundraiser is a fun way for companies and fans to participate in the road to the Russ Barnes Trophy as well.
To kick off the contest, The Hideout Pub will host a “Meet It or Beat It” party on Friday evening. For a $10 cover, fans can munch on Big Hill pizza, mingle with Generals brass, win prizes, participate in giveaways and draws – and raise some cash for the team at the same time.
The Gens players themselves will be focused on Game 5 of the HJHL finals, which takes place (if necessary) on Saturday night in Cochrane.
