Cochrane High School Cobras varisty girls basketball head coach Randy Peron has been named as the new coach for the girls U14 zone two basketball team that will be taking part in the upcoming Alberta Summer Games (July 14-17). Zone two covers players from Cochrane, Canmore, Airdrie, Strathmore, Chestermere, and Okotoks.
“This is my third time as a coach at the Summer Games,” Peron said. “The other two times I was there, was with the Calgary zone and we got to the gold medal game both times. So the goal this time around is to get to final again.
“The age groups have changed this year, since it’s U14 there won’t be any high school kids. I might have a couple grade nine’s from the Cochrane area though. I’ve got a lot of contacts all over since I’ve been in basketball for a while, so come January I’ll be getting in touch with coaches at junior level to let me know about potential players.
