The Cochrane Piranhas Swim Club again proved its swimmers are top of the crop as the team dominated at the Okotoks Stingrays meet on June 10.
Nine clubs from Calgary, High River, Canmore, Didsbury, Innisfail, and Okotoks took part in the meet with a total of 411 swimmers taking part in 1,488 individual swims and 134 relay events.
Thirty-five Piranhas took part, with many finishing in podium positions.
Sarah Nusl had an outstanding meet, picking up first place in the girls (13 and 14 years old) 100m freestyle, first in the 200m freestyle, first in the 100m breast stroke, and second in the 50m fly.
Ben Barclay picked up gold in both of the boys (nine and 10 years old) 25m butterfly and the 25m backstroke events, as well as second in the 200m free and 100m individual medley events.
Zacahry Michalski grabbed first in the boys (15 to 17 years old) 200m freestyle event, while Connor Swedlo nabbed second in the boys (15 to 17 years old) 50m freestyle swim and second in the 100m-freestyle event in the same age category.
Eric Swedlo placed first in the boys (13 and 14 years old) 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle competitions, as well as second in the 100m breaststroke in the same age category.
Jordyn Johnsen placed first in the girls (ages 11 and 12) 100m freestyle, second in the 100m breaststroke, and third in the 50m freestyle.
Kaitlyn Eiserman picked up second in the girls (ages seven and eight) breaststroke and third in the 50m back stroke.
Ella Kruger placed third in the girls (ages nine and 10) 200m freestyle event, and Bria Michalski came third in the girls breaststroke (ages 11 and 12).
The Piranhas relay teams had a strong showing, with the ages 12 and under squad (Aggie Baker, Ashlyn Parker, Georgia Sather, and Madyson Cheverie) picking up second place in the 200m-medley event.
The boys ages 14 and under squad (Jake Barclay, Eric Swedlo, Max Kruger, and Bryson Hammer) came home with a first place finish in the 200m-medley relay and the 200m-freestyle events.
The boys age 12 and under team (Ben Barclay, Owen Johnsen, Aaron Swedlo, and Michael Blydo) picked up a third-place finish in the 200m-freestyle event.
