The girls Rockyview Rage midget lacrosse team ended their stellar season in style, as they bagged the bronze medal in the Calgary District Lacrosse Association.
The Rage spanked the Calgary Sabrecats 6-2 on July 27 to take the bronze to end one of the club’s best seasons.
Halfway through the regular-season, the Rage were a mid-table team, but a streak of wins ending with a 13-0 victory over Strathmore in their final game of the season helped the secure fourth-place in the 11-team league, finishing with a record of 6-4-2.
During the first round of the playoffs, the Rage brushed aside the Calgary Axemen 7-2, before playing the Red Deer Chiefs – who finished in first during the regular-season – in the second round.
After a tight 4-4 game in regulation time, the game went to overtime, where the Chiefs managed to eek out a victory in sudden death play.
Apart from the bronze medal, the team had a successful tournament campaign, winning the Girls Rock tournament during May long weekend in Calgary where they went undefeated and didn’t concede a single goal in four games. They also managed to take gold at the Jeremy Richardson Memorial Tournament on June 13 in St. Albert.
