Rage reigns on Halloween
Rocky View Rage pee-wee football team took one step closer to the Central Football League Tier 3 Championship with a 27-6 victory over Rocky Mountain Rebels on Oct. 31.
Rebels opened the scoring early in the first-quarter with a running TD, but were unable to capitalize on the kick convert. That was all the visitors would get from Rage, as they took charge, and shut them out for the remainder of the game.
The home side bounced back in the second-quarter, when Zach Pynn-Gavey blazed down the field for a 70-yard run. The Rage player then ran the ball in a second time for the one-point convert. The first-half ended with Rage having a 7-6 advantage.
Pynn-Gavey again struck in the third-quarter, scoring with a stellar 50-yard run down the sideline. Rage missed the convert, but it matter little, as Pynn-Gavey scored another TD, and Brody Hunt (son of head coach Shannon Hunt) converted giving Rage a 20-6 lead going into the final quarter.
The fourth-quarter was the Rage show, as Hunt scored a TD, and Riley Moore converted, rounded out the scoring.
“This year has been a huge building year for the Rage pee-wee team,” said Paul Netzband, bantam head coach and president of Rage Association. “There has only been a few returning players from last year, and the squad was built up to 30 players on the roster this season.”
Rocky View Rage next play Drumheller on Nov. 7 in the Central Football League Tier 3 Championship game. Kick-off is 6 p.m. at Drumheller High School.
