Good things come to those who wait.
The Cochrane Rockies Bantam Tier 3 hockey team broke a run of bad luck as they recorded a pair of wins over the weekend to give their season a shot of adrenaline.
On Nov. 21 Rockies hosted Brooks Bantam Junior Bandits at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.
Russell Erickson (assisted by Jack Smilski and Xavier Vaillancourt) and Tristan Archibald (Reece Younger with the helper) gave Rockies a 2-0 lead which lasted until the final second of the game, when Bandits scored a consolation goal through Brady Dovichak (assisted by Gavin Schroeder).
“We finally pulled it together,” Ken Younger, Rockies head coach said.
“This was our first home win of the season.
“We kind of played down to the other team’s level a bit, but overall, the guys are finally starting to come together as a team.”
Rockies travelled to Black Diamond on Nov. 22, to play High Country Black Diamond Rockies.
The home side ran up a 2-0 lead in the first period.
Rockies stormed back, and smashed six goals past High Country while the hosts recorded a third goal.
The third period saw both sides trade goals as the game ended in a 7-4 Rockies victory.
Quinn Conroy, Erickson, Younger, Smilski, Kaleb Edwards, and Vaillancourt were all on the scoreboard for the Cochrane team.
Rockies now have a record of 2-2-2, and currently sit third in the Tier 3 Central Alberta Hockey League (CAHL).
