The 2015/16 season will be one the Bow Valley Midget AA Timberwolves will likely want to put behind them.

After posting a 7-25-6 record during the regular season, T-wolves got a bye into the Conference Playoff Tournament Championships as hosts.

The Cochrane-based side played their final three games of the campaign over the course of Mar. 3-4.

They fell 8-3 to West Central Tigers and 7-1 to Olds Grizzlys, before bouncing back and salvaging some pride with a 4-1 victory over Airdrie Lightning thanks to a hat-trick from Dawson Javorsky.

“We were hoping that we could get into the second round, but unfortunately, we fell two points short,” said T-wolves assistant coach Darren Robson.

Like the majority of the season, T-wolves went into this final tournament ravaged by nagging injuries and Robson credits their win against Lightning to the fact most of their players had returned to the roster.

“We were down three guys in the first game, and the second we were missing five players,” Robson said. “That’s the story of our season. It’s been an up-and-down year, mainly because of injuries. We’ve had guys off all the time, and it’s hard to pull players up from other teams.”

Much like head coach Erik Krigel, Robson believes that pound-for-pound his team was one of the most talented in the league, despite racking up a losing season.

“I think without doubt, our team had the most talented players man-for-man out of any team in the league,” he said. “I honestly believe that. Other teams have two or three really good players, we have around 10, but when you have to constantly juggle lines to make up for missing players it’s always difficult.”

Looking back at the season, Robson believes that no players stood out this year, since everyone stepped up when called upon.

“Everyone took their turns pulling their weight this year,” Robson said. “If we had our full team for the whole year, you could maybe pick standouts, but since we were so short, everyone kicked in and gave it their all. We as a coaching staff are proud of the guys.”
