The Bow Valley Timberwolves Midget AA team is off to a fantastic start to begin their season. Bow Valley is currently 4-0 on the year, outscoring their opponents 18-8 in the process.

Timberwolves head coach Tyson Soloski feels like his team has been prepared to play since their first practice of the season, which has helped them get off to such a hot start.

“I think it has a lot to do with the work ethic of all the players, starting in practice and moving into the games,” Soloski said.

“We have great depth. So, along with outworking other teams, it allows us to be successful. Both of our goalies have been playing great as well.”

Bow Valley will take to the road for their next three games including games on back-to-back nights in Taber to play the Golden Suns and Medicine Hat to take on the Hounds on Oct. 14 and 15, which Soloski says will create some extra bonding time for a team already firing on all cylinders.

“We stay overnight in Medicine Hat where the players will be rooming together,” Soloski said.

“Hopefully, it allows the team to come closer together. Bringing the team closer will obviously help in the future when we get into some tougher times. The bus trip will also help us bond and hopefully help us continue to improve each and every game.”

With playing Taber and Medicine Hat, teams with 4-1 records, Soloski says the T-Wolves will have a pair of games to measure themselves up against some tougher competition than they’ve had in prior games.

“Just from the stats they will both be hard games. I think it will challenge us as a team to play a full 60 minutes if we want to come away with two points against good teams in order to win. It will also challenge us with our focus. With back-to-back games on the road we will have to be ready to play right from puck drop,” Soloski said.

“Both teams will challenge us in the defensive zone, which so far has been solid only allowing two goals in every game so far, but these teams will have an extra gear. Hopefully our team defence can steps up and executes properly, while both our goaltenders will have to continue to play well and be the backbone of our team.”

The Timberwolves will also play Oct. 18 in Calgary against the CBHA Rangers before returning home Oct. 20 to host the Airdrie Lightning.
