Cochrane’s Tristan Walker and luge doubles partner Justin Snith of Calgary teamed up with their fellow Luge Canada sliders to win a bronze medal in the team relay event at the Luge World Championships in Konigssee, Germany, on Jan. 31.

The Canadians – Walker/Snith, female luger Alex Gough and men’s slider Mitch Malyk – posted a combined time of two minutes, 45.907 seconds, just behind first-place Germany and second-place Latvia.

The team relay is a one-run-per-slider event consisting of one women’s, one men’s and one doubles sled. Sliders hit a pad hanging over the finish line, which opens a gate at the top of the track for the next team member’s run.
