An exciting time to be in Cochrane

This weekend’s Cochrane Trade Show is one of my favourite events in town. It always feels like Cochrane is coming out of hibernation as our local businesses gather to showcase.

This weekend’s Cochrane Trade Show is one of my favourite events in town. It always feels like Cochrane is coming out of hibernation as our local businesses gather to showcase.

It’s an event that marks the arrival of spring, a chance to re-connect, and the beginning of a season of change. And for Cochrane, there is a lot of positive change to celebrate.

The aquatic, curling and multisport centre is on track to open in time for a fun-filled summer.

Donations continue to come in and there is still time for your family to donate and be recognized on the legacy wall at this amazing community facility that is going to serve Cochrane’s needs for decades.

Great steps are also being made in addressing Cochrane’s transportation needs.

The province’s announcement to fund the Highway 22/1A interchange is just part of this.

Work will start on the road to the recreation center this summer and design of the Bow River bridge will begin, and lights will be added along Griffin Road, are just a few of the Connecting Cochrane projects of the year.

Progress continues to be made in bringing transit to Cochrane and I’m looking forward to the Banff bus pilot.

Investment in our local businesses and economy continues with the Historic Downtown upgrades and the adoption of the Fibre Strategy as the first steps in bringing new industries, businesses, and meaningful jobs to Cochrane.

And of course the introduction of the Cochrane Dollar.

There’s a lot going on in Cochrane, it’s an exciting time.

Far too much to share in one column, so add the Trade Show to your schedule this weekend and stop by the Council booth – we are located in the new curling rink -- to get caught up.
