Council is heading in the right direction

I’d like to offer my sincere gratitude for placing your trust in me to oversee and guide our community through a very critical 2018-2021 term.

I’d like to offer my sincere gratitude for placing your trust in me to oversee and guide our community through a very critical 2018-2021 term. We are blessed to live in such a desirable community and many decisions decided during our tenure will impact how boldly we go into the future. This is a responsibility that I don’t take for granted.

I see many exciting decisions and opportunities ahead and I’m happy to report that I believe in the direction council is heading. Concerns identified by residents during last election season are the same topics I currently see being addressed in a meaningful way. This gives me confidence that we are heading in the right direction.

Recently, council released a list of Strategic Priorities that will guide where our attention should be directed and where results must be achieved over the next four years. You can see the complete list by visiting: cochrane.ca I would encourage everyone to review it and make sure that we are held accountable to both its contents and the timely resolutions of those items.

The Priorities that we are focused on include:

a) Traffic solutions and connectivity of Cochrane

b) Growth management

c) Transparency and public engagement

d) Community service deficits and planning

e) Organizational efficiencies and minimized taxation

Looking ahead I am also excited with many of our longer-term planning initiatives. Our Smart Cities Federal Grant challenge is an opportunity to put Cochrane emphatically ahead as a technology destination. Our upcoming community lands and transit study will help guide us and give public consultation on critical decisions affecting Cochrane’s future.

Upcoming capital projects include, Center Avenue widening, grade separated crossing, Bow River Bridge, new RCMP station, athletic park development, fresh and waste water capacity upgrades, Horse Creek Road and Downtown railway crossings to name a few. Details can also be found on Cochrane.ca

If you are interested in engaging with me on these topics or others, I periodically post updates, thoughts and discussion pieces in my Facebook group – ‘Patrick Wilson at Cochrane Town Council’ and I invite you to join and engage in the dialogue. I can also be reached at [email protected].
