LETTER: Construction harms animals and trees

Dear editor,

I was hoping you could post this opinion piece I wrote about the Highway 1A-22 intersection construction. I am only 11 years old but believe all voices should be heard.

In my opinion, tearing down hills and animal habitat is cruel. What is happening to our world? From garbage to dead animals on the side of the road to wrecking animals’ habitats and damaging trees, which are our world’s lungs.

This construction is a continuation of that. I don’t understand why we are wrecking our earth. I understand we need this for traffic, but tearing down two hills is totally wrong. Tradition and memories both laid on those hills. There is nothing we can do about the construction now, but with trees and animals on the line, there is a change in the future we can make – if we try.
