I have a suggestion that may help the government recover some of the money lost to wasted vaccine doses while rewarding (not charging) Albertans who want to be part of the solution to preventing another pandemic outbreak.
Why not charge everyone in the province $50 via a payroll tax, which they will receive back if they can show that they received the vaccine? Those that choose (of their own free will) not to get the shot lose their $50, and, in doing so, help to pay for those that end up in the hospital to recover from complications due to COVID.
The province gets money, responsible Albertans are financially rewarded, those that are willing to gamble pay for others that unfortunately end up requiring hospitalization, and rates for COVID deaths may very well go down. Win/win/win!
I've got 50 bucks right here ready to give to get this off the ground.
