Imaging Calgary without the Stampede seems like imaging Spain without bullfighting or the UK without fox hunting and yet both countries have now banned these events. Iceland has stopped its whale hunts and Brazil, Costa Rica, India, Singapore & Kenya have banned all hunting. Replacing hunts with safaris and trophies with photographs, instead of cheering for the matador, Spaniards are now cheering for football and cricket players. Calgary can end the Stampede and let a new compassionate future takes its place.
