Hello Cochranites! I am here to report that Council is eight months into our four-year term. We said we wanted to hear from you and we are working hard to find new and better ways to gather your input on many important projects that are underway.
We need to hear a wide range of voices in the community to help inform and guide decisions we are tasked with making. That is why it is so important for you to get involved by participating in opportunities for public consultation.
The Land Use Bylaw is currently under review. This document sets the rules for development into the future and has not been looked at for 14 years. It is time to make any needed changes to help develop Cochrane to be the best it can be. If you missed the workshops, please give feedback on LetsTalkCochrane.ca.
Transit: is a hot topic. Express your thoughts on what is needed for Cochrane. Does your family have two cars? Consider those who don’t: seniors, youth, people with disabilities, families with one car, tourists who want to get around town. How do we meet the needs of our community with the most efficient service? Attend the Local Transit session at the Alliance Church on Thursday June 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. or give your feedback on LetsTalkCochrane.ca.
Many topics, one location: Join us for a barbecue June 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Clubhouse Activity Centre in the Historic Cochrane Ranche. This is a chance for you to provide feedback on a number of important topics that are out for public consultation and to network with your neighbours.
A focus group will be held June 28 on waste and recycling at the Cochrane Eco Centre from 6 to 8 p.m.
Other surveys are available on LetsTalkCochrane.ca for the Bow River Bridge naming and the Tri-Site Concept plan project.
I am thrilled to be the councillor assigned to the community committee on the Tri-site Concept Plan. This committee will be meeting regularly over the summer. I look forward to hearing the creative ideas to address the space needs of Cochrane and to make these sites beautiful centrepieces for the community.
