An Open Letter to Cochrane Seniors,
These past few weeks have been truly unlike anything we've experienced before. As an advocate of community, connection and culture, I am acutely aware of your ability to connect with your friends and family has been instantly and greatly affected.
Change has been thrust upon all of us and we are all striving to adapt and overcome. The Province has put extraordinary measures in place to help keep you and the rest of our community safe.
My heartfelt thanks goes out to each of you, as Cochrane residents your continued cooperation and support during this time is so greatly appreciated. I realize these extraordinary measures put in place for your protection have impacted you.
I would also like to commend and say thank you to the staff at seniors’ care centres for their commitment to keeping seniors safe, while continuing to facilitate activities to help you to cope with all the changes.
Cochranites are standing together like never before. We are seeing compassion and kindness from Cochrane residents throughout our community from helping neighbours to saluting our first responders and many more acts of caring for others in times of need. This is what Cochrane is all about.
We are committed to looking after one another and of course that includes you. I will continue to communicate with you directly to provide additional information over the coming weeks.
In the meantime, you can always find the latest updates on how the Town of Cochrane is addressing COVID-19 at cochrane.ca or reach out to me directly [email protected] or 403-851-2500. I also invite you to check out my latest Humans of Cochrane video dedicated to seniors on my Mayor Jeff Genung Facebook page.
Best health,
Mayor Jeff Genung
