The beginning of a new year is a time of reflection on the past and future. It's also a time of celebration for what's done and coming. Everyone is saying, ‘New year new me’ but the exciting part is nobody ever really knows what's coming next, it’s a fresh start. Light your sparklers and say "Cheers" with your champagne because 2017 is here.
Teenagers, adults, and everyone else are doing something to celebrate. The Christmas season has just come to an end. The holidays come and go so fast, likely because we all look forward to it most of the year. Teenagers in Cochrane don't just sit around and waste their breaks, they try to use their time to enjoy what's left of the holidays. Many people I know are travelling to Jasper, BC, Vancouver and Ontario. Aside from travelling, people are skiing, snowboarding, DJing at clubs, and even going to dances. Quoting one of my cousins, she says, "It's great because you get to travel and everyone loves to travel."
An important part of a new year is thinking about your goals and making the future bright.
Here are some things you can do to spice up your new year:
The first would be to buy a nice jar and label it with something you are looking forward to financially. It could say Hawaii for a trip suggestion or even that new car you want. Weekly or biweekly, start putting small amounts of money into the jar, it will surprise you how quickly you salvage the money you need.
A second thing you could do to better your future is make time for positivity! As simple as this sounds it can be a great stress reliever. Your positivity could be anything from spending time with family and friends to going out to get your nails done.
A third thing you can do this upcoming year is re-evaluate your life. As a high school student that could mean start looking into your future. Look over your routine and what you are used to then take a step forward and try something new! It could be something as crazy as skydiving or as small as trying out a new restaurant.
Happy New Year Cochrane make it a good one!
