Real talk, day in day out, the life of a high school student.
We all know what we think about high school: stressful, tiring, boring, or maybe interesting and a social place to see your friends. No matter what it’s about it is still 194 days a year for all of us high schoolers.
You’re lucky if you grow up in middle school with friends and go straight to secondary with them or you can be like me and switch schools in the middle of a year.
There’s always falling behind and catching up. Walking into a giant school freshman year feeling like an ant on a horse farm or walking in your senior year knowing it all like the back of your hand. It’s all new, but you feel older, you feel mature, you feel responsible.
When it comes to class, and the fact we have a decent selection of them, I still think what if schools let students offer up suggestions for classes that could benefit their future, or that will benefit the students personally. Or, what if teacher’s let students voice their opinions more on what is and isn’t voiced inside the school walls?
I find us as teenagers feel the need to want a little more freedom then we are given. Things that make students want to wake up at sunrise and go to school. Don’t you think students would want to do things they feel comfortable doing. What about social media and how it plays such a huge part in a teen’s life? Eighty-one per cent of teens use social media sites. Everything is always out there and known, which is strange because people at your school know things about you even if you have never spoken to them! But the people you meet in high school can end up being people you want in your life later on. It’s a huge learning experience because the relationships you have as you’re growing change and affect your life. It’s also a learning experience in general because school is prepping you for college and university or a job you want! It’s a four-year process of figuring out what you want to do with your life. It’s a monumental moment in life that is also such a huge part of you.
