The Bragg Creek wastewater system is still experiencing higher than normal flows, putting it at risk of overload and potential backups.

Rocky View County (RVC) asked for residents to help reduce pressure on the system on Thursday, July 24, by limiting water use as much as possible.

Delay doing laundry, minimize toilet flushing, dishwasher use, and taking long showers. If you have a sump pump, make sure it is not discharging into the sanitary sewer system.

"Thank you, Bragg Creek residents, for your continued patience and support as we manage the high-flow conditions currently impacting the community’s wastewater system," RVC shared online.

RVC shared that they are beginning to see encouraging signs and assured that water conservation efforts are helping.

Inflow volumes to the wastewater treatment plant have decreased slightly, though they remain well above system capacity. Crews continue to haul excess wastewater and utilize system storage to help manage flow volumes.

"As part of our investigation into the source of excess water entering the system, Rocky View County staff will be conducting site visits and inspections of E1 lift stations throughout Bragg Creek," RVC shared.

Site visits will take place on Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Marked County vehicles and staff with official identification will be present throughout the community. Staff will knock on doors before entering yards and will not enter homes. These inspections are critical in helping identify whether groundwater is entering the wastewater system.

"We sincerely appreciate your ongoing patience, understanding, and the proactive actions many of you are taking to reduce strain on the system," RVC noted. "Your efforts are making a meaningful impact."
