ALBERTA— Alberta Health Services has announced 2021 New Year's babies will not be identified.
Alberta Health Services sent out a press release on Wednesday (Dec. 30) stating due to current COVID-19 public health restrictions the first babies born in the new year will not be identified. The press release states the decision was made because it is not possible to invite media into facilities or organize media interviews during the pandemic.
The statement adds the labour and delivery teams are extremely busy and priority is being given to patient care.
The decision affects Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health.
"We congratulate families on their new additions and welcome these brand-new Albertans to the world," states the press release.
If the family that has the new year's baby for Cochrane wishes to be featured in The Eagle after they leave the hospital, please contact [email protected].
