The Building Bridges fundraising concert for Syrian refugees will take place on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Cochrane Alliance Church.

This morning started like every other morning in November, except the atmosphere was more sombre and reflective.

Cochrane Fire Services inspector Jeff Avery said five occupants and several pets were evacuated safely while one small dog perished in the fire. He added that the contents of the home were a total loss.

"Remembrance Day doesn't end on the 11th, it's an everyday thing, it's April 18, it's July 4, it's August 11, it's October 29."

There are some aspects of his time in the service that Stewart can’t forget, even if he tries to.

"All the animals who display such stalwart courage are the forgotten victims, forgotten heroes of war. We have a duty to recognize the valuable, selfless role animals play in conflicts, and honour them during Remembrance Day observances and ceremonies."- Carol Tracey

Jacquie Matechuk presented her photos to Professional Photographers of Canada and came out with success and grinning from ear to ear.

Over 500 pounds of food and other supplies will be donated to the Veterans Association Food Bank.

"It's touching and important to them. You start to hear the stories as the boys start talking a little more so obviously there's an emotional aspect to that and excitement to be able to give back."
