A fire that ravaged through a home on Nov. 11 has left a local Cochrane family devastated.

In the home were five occupants - whom are safe and sound - Barb Goll, her husband Steve, their son, Barb's mother and Steve's stepfather. The family also had numerous pets on the property. Three kittens and a small dog perished in the fire. The family is still trying to locate a female cat and a couple of her kittens. A male cat was found to be badly burned, said Barb.

The family is staying at the Super 8 hotel in town and have occupied three rooms to accommodate animals and relatives. Barb explains their room doesn't have a kitchenette so they have been eating out frequently which has been getting expensive.

After losing everything in the fire the family has received around 18 clothing donation bags, but the majority has been geared toward men's wear and there isn't much in the way of female clothing for herself or her mother.

Currently the family has been on the hunt for a home but they require an acreage seeing as they have horses and donkeys and many other animals including Ghost, the Great Pyrenees escape artist.

"I'm trying to find one close to town because I work in Cochrane, everything is here for me," explains Barb.

Barb says the family is pretty stressed but they are hanging in there. Friend of the family, Terry Deisman has since started a GoFundMe page to help alleviate some of the financial struggles. He also mentioned that if anyone is wanting to make a cash donation they can do so at the Mobil Gas bar where he works.

If you would like to help out you can find the GoFundMe page by searching "Donations for Steve and his Family." You can also stop in at the Super 8 front desk and drop off any food or clothing donations under the name Barb Goll. Things like bread, sandwich meat, cheese, canned goods, milk and cereal would help substantially. Even something like a crock-pot would allow Barb to be able to cook meals. In the way of clothing donations Barb takes a size medium and her mother takes a 2XL in shirts and a 1XL to 2XL in pants.
