The Cochrane Light Up saw Cochranites take to historic downtown for the staple annual event.
  • A respiratory illness outbreak at Cochrane Christian Academy prompted Alberta Health Services to advise parents to be wary of their children’s health. The outbreak came amid a province-wide increase in absenteeism in many Alberta school districts.
  • Cochrane RCMP ‘s Crime Reduction Unit assisted in the arrest of an individual responsible for a rash of residential break-an-enters in Rocky View County.
  • Calgary-based artist Stephen Purdy shared his appreciation for Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park at a talk on Dec. 6, where he displayed many of his plein air paintings of the sprawling park. 
  • Council approved an additional $250,000 to include signage on the $1.5 million 4th Avenue retaining wall, much to the chagrin of some residents.

  • A small group of concerned Cochrane residents gathered at The Plaza to protest the Town’s decision to hire a $180,000 per-year manager in 2023.
  • Alberta government has issued the tender for the contructions of an overpass interchange to improve traffic flow on Highway 22 and Highway 1A.A collaborative effort by the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park and Calgary’s Haskayne Legacy Park aimes to increase visitation and long-term environmental stewardship with public access improvements in 2023.
