Wildfire smoke from B.C. continues to hover over Cochranbe today
As a result, Environment Canada's special air quality statement remains in effect for much of Alberta Sunday, but is expected to end Monday.
Wildfire smoke coming from northeastern British Columbia continues to cause a widespread area of very poor air quality and reduced visibility, the federal agency noted in a May 12 update.
Environment Canada first issued a special air quality statement Saturday.
The air quality statement is in effect for the Cochrane - Airdrie - Calgary - Olds – Sundre area.
The federal agency said smoke will move eastward through Sunday night.
"Conditions should improve by Monday night for most of the province. Over northern Alberta smoky conditions will continue through Tuesday," the Sunday update noted.
