A Cochrane couple seeking to facilitate dialogue on world issues will be hosting their 17th annual State of the World Forum Joining Hands Across the Lines: The Power of Unity in Diversity on Dec. 29.
Michael and Judie Bopp of the Four Worlds Center for Development Learning host their potluck feast and activity-filled mid-winter gathering at their rural Cochrane home as a way to provide a platform for community members to share their concerns about world issues in an open and welcoming environment.
A handful of keynote speakers will be on deck to discuss topics such as Islamophobia; the possibility of a new, non-partisan political movement; the impact of the civil war in Sudan on the Sudanese community in Calgary; and reconciliation between First Nations and non-indigenous Canadians.
With an average of more than 60 people in attendance each year, those interested in attending are asked to contact 403-932-1922 to receive directions and confirm attendance.
