Save-On-Foods hosted a lunchtime barbeque fundraiser in support of Brielle Thomson, a little girl born without the use of her legs. The fundraiser, one in a series of many community-wide fundraisers being organized this month, will contribute funds for Thomson to get a set of robotic legs that can teach Thomson to walk.
The Save-On fundraiser, held from 11-2 pm, gave away hot dogs and hamburgers for donations, and featured games, ice cream from McKay's, and Spin-the-Wheel prizes.
Thomson and her mother, Michelle Aguilar, set out last month with the goal of raising $43,000 for a Trexo Robotic legs device. As May turns to June, other fundraisers will be held until June 14, when community activists and organizers hope to hand over $43,000 to Thomson and Aguilar.
