The Rocky View County is hosting their next open house to confirm findings from the previous round of engagement, establish the project’s vision and goals, and to explore potential development forms. Session highlights will be summarized on viewing boards with various opportunities for feedback.
The event will take place on Nov. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rock Pointe Church on Lochend Road. If you are unable to attend the open house or would prefer a small group setting, attendees can consider attending one of their upcoming coffee chat meetings. Please RSVP for these meetings. The days scheduled are Dec, 3, 4, 5 and 6 with both daytime and evening sessions available.
Rocky View County is currently reviewing plans for the Bearspaw area. The current area structure plan was adopted in 1994. The Bearspaw Area Structure Plan is approximately 25,000 acres in size. The boundaries extend to the town of Cochrane to the east, to the city of Calgary to the west, to the north of the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park and Big Hill Creek, Township Road 264 and Township Road 262 form the northern boundary.
Since the original Bearspaw Area Structure Plan was adopted, several municipal documents have been approved, including the County Plan, Glenbow Ranch Area Structure Plan, and the County Servicing Standards. In addition, the Interim Growth Plan and the Interim Regional Evaluation Framework (IREF) were adopted by the province. The purpose of this project is to create a comprehensive land use strategy that is current, effective, consistent with other statutory plans, and reflective of residents’ vision for the future of Bearspaw.
Location for the coffee chat meetings is the Bearspaw Lion’s Club, 25240 Nagway Road, Rocky View County. If you are not available to meet on these dates, the project team can discuss meeting highlights on the phone or meet in person at the county offices another. Please contact Nadine Owen at 403-230-1401 or email [email protected] to register for a meeting or schedule an alternate time.
