STONEY NAKODA – Keith Lefthand has been elected the new Eden Valley representative for the Bearspaw councillor position.

The election took place last Friday (Feb. 8) with the announcement of Lefthand's victory by a mere four-vote difference the next day.

The position opened following the death of longtime Bearspaw councillor Gordon Wildman, who passed away last August. The new position will only run for eight months, as the three-year Bearspaw term is complete this fall with the new election to be called likely in October.

Four people threw their names in the hat for the position with Allie Lefthand receiving 32 votes, Cameron Lefthand receiving 79 votes, Larry Daniels SR coming in a close second with 135 votes and Keith Lefthand winning the seat with a total 139 votes.

A total of 178 people from Morley voted in the by-election and 207 from Eden Valley. Lefthand won with 59 votes from Morley and 80 from Eden Valley.
