“There’s tons of possibilities and I want people to think about those and start using their imagination and dreaming bigger,” said dream coach Monica Munro.

COCHRANE— Hoping to encourage Cochranites and viewers from across the world go after their goals, a local dream coach has launched a free online summit.

Dream coach Monica Munro created the virtual Big Dreams Realized Summit as a way to give people hope during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the summit, Munro has interviewed 22 people who have achieved inspiring goals in their lives.

The summit intends to help people believe in the possibilities of their dreams and break through barriers that may be in their way, she said, so they can create the life they have always wanted.

“I think it’s an important topic anytime, and even more so right now because there’s a lot of people that are really struggling and maybe feeling like they don’t have much hope,” Munro said. “You look at what’s going on, the conditions and circumstances we are finding ourselves in and it can be discouraging and disheartening.”

As a dream coach Munro works with people to help them create goals and get started on accomplishing or fulfilling an objective.

“I call myself a dream champion because I’m championing other people to achieve their dreams,” Munro said. “We need cheerleaders— I’m there to support people and guide them.”

The Big Dreams Realized Summit began as a research project and evolved into a way to bring the community together.

This is the first summit Munro has hosted and it has been exciting working to get the speaker series off the ground. It has been interesting learning about how people have achieved lofty goals, Munro said, and is she is looking forward to sharing what she has learned with the community.

Munro said she is encouraging people to dream big because she believes anything is possible. She added many people feel there are barriers or obstacles in the way of their dreams— The key is finding ways to change how we think and commit to achieving our objectives.

It is an exciting time, she said, because while there is record unemployment due to the pandemic, people also have the opportunity to embrace innovation and creativity when exploring new possibilities.

Munro said it is the perfect time to embrace fresh ideas and collaborations to create new businesses.

“There’s tons of possibilities and I want people to think about those and start using their imagination and dreaming bigger,” Munro said.

To create the summit Munro started speaking with some people within her circle including coaches of hers and then she began to connect with other “dream champions.” There was a ripple effect, she said, explaining the more people she spoke with the more people she was introduced to who could speak at the summit.

“These are people who in achieving their big dreams have impacted people’s lives globally,” Munro said. “It’s incredible.”

When people register for the event, running from Oct. 8 to 28, they will receive a daily email featuring a video of one of the 22 speakers Munro has interviewed. Videos will be available for 72 hours after participants receive them.

Munro said she hopes people walk away from the summit feeling empowered and ready to accomplish their dreams.

“Everybody has dreams but some people don’t remember what they are, or they’ve been beaten out of them or humiliated out of them,” Munro said. “I just want people to either create a new dream, reawaken an old dream, I want to empower them to actually achieve the dreams they do have.”
