Bow Valley High School will be hosting its annual Black and White Night on May 31.
“We have several different groups that are going to be performing – these are very strong, award-winning groups,” said Rob Billington, the school’s music teacher.
Two concert groups, two jazz groups, and the choir will all take the stage throughout the evening. In addition, multiple duets will be performing.
“They’re all doing really entertaining but also very challenging repertoire. Our kids work very, very hard and they tackle music that is tremendously challenging to play but also deeply rewarding for them and the audience,” Billington said.
Roughly 75 students will perform altogether throughout the evening.
“This is a dessert evening, so we’ll have coffee, tea, and juice as well as desserts provided for all of our guests,” Billington said.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the program’s tour to Halifax scheduled next year. Tickets for the evening are $10 each and can be purchased from any band student with the school or from Billington at 403-932-9005.
The show will start at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s gym. The audience is encouraged to dress in black and white colours to add to the ambience of the event.
