On September 2, K-12 students across the province are expected to make their return from summer holidays as the 2025-2026 school year begins, but students at Cochrane’s Bow Valley High School will have to wait a few more days for their in-person learning to start.
Rocky View Schools (RVS) announced today that due to an “unexpected delay to the expansion and modernization” of Bow Valley High School in Cochrane, the school building will not open to students on September 2 for the new school year as planned.
RVS stated that to ensure learning continues, students will temporarily move to online learning for Sept. 3 – 5. Staggered entry for Grade 9 students on Sept. 2 is cancelled, the School Board said in a statement. In-person learning is planned for Monday, Sept. 8 for all students.
“The school building will not be open to students or families during this time,” a spokesperson with RVS wrote in a press release. “The contractor has advised RVS this delay is temporary and they are working quickly to complete the necessary steps to ensure the building is safe and ready.”
Parents and students are advised to visit the BVHS website for more information.
More information about online learning will be emailed to families on Tuesday.
