Bow Valley High hosting post-secondary school fair

The annual out-of-province Post-Secondary Fair is slated to take place Nov. 1 at Bow Valley High (BVH) from 6-7:30 p.m. The event is geared toward students from both Cochrane High School (CHS) and BVH; CHS has held the event in previous years.

The annual out-of-province Post-Secondary Fair is slated to take place Nov. 1 at Bow Valley High (BVH) from 6-7:30 p.m.

The event is geared toward students from both Cochrane High School (CHS) and BVH; CHS has held the event in previous years.

“We decided we were going to do a flip this year, as CHS has hosted it the last four years,” said BVH career advisor, Lana Allen, explaining that the two high schools are trying to be more collaborative with each other.

“This fair gives students and parents an opportunity to speak to the representatives one-on-one. . . to hear from them what the requirements are, the pre-requisites and how they differ from province to province, what residence is like, what scholarships are being offered...it’s very valuable.”

Last year Allen said more than 400 people attended and the same turnout is anticipated for this year; she also said hosting the event in the evening is more effective than an afternoon event.

Numerous post-secondary institutions from across Canada will be there, including Dalhousie, McMaster University and McGill, among others.

Anyone is welcome to attend; for more information, contact Lana Allen at BVH at 403-932-9005.
