Principal cast member in the role of Violet Beauregard, Klara Ball, said it is very exciting for Bow Valley High Performing Arts to return to the RancheHouse for another performance.
“We’ve been working super hard at the school every week, and now we are getting into that space and getting super comfortable, I think everyone has gotten really close,” Ball said.
Teacher at Bow Valley High School and director of this year’s production, Adrienne Fossheim, explained that each year, their directorial team works hard to choose their next production. Compared to last year’s production, she outlines that is significantly different.
“We were looking for something more technical as we have a huge team of technical students here,” she explained. “Over 40 kids have built and designed everything from scratch, [it’s] so innovative and creative, especially in act two, when we get into the factory.
“The costumes, the set, lighting, and sound design is really remarkable in the show and has been so much fun to work on.”
In the role as Mrs. Bucket, Telly Rousseau, said she this year’s performance features several talented performers in numbers throughout the performance.
“There are some really talented singers and dancers, and everyone has their own skill set,” Rousseau said. ”It’s so awesome seeing everyone bring that into this show and it’s really amazing because you get to see each and every one of them.”
Another principal cast in the role of Veruca Salt, Sofia Navarro, said that although rehearsals over the last few months have been a stressful, it still didn’t take away from the fun aspects of the musical.
“We’re been working really hard to get it together, and personally, I think it has been amazing so far.” She said. “From the choreography and leaning our songs, Mrs. Cholach has been amazing at teaching us our songs, and Zoe [Farrell] has come up with the most amazing choreography for us to do.”
Landon Caufield, cast as Willy Wonka himself, said that he is surprised to be featured in the leading role as it is only his second year with the Bow Valley High Performing Arts,
“It caught me off guard for sure, but it was really fun, especially with my wonderful understudy, Connor Presti,” he said. “We learn how to bounce off each other, we have really nice chemistry, we really hype each other up, and it creates a really friendly environment despite it being a really daunting role.”
Fossheim said that Bow Valley High Performing Arts would like to thank everyone involved in the production who helped bring this show to the stage and the Cochrane RancheHouse.
The cast would also like to give a special shoutout to Mrs. Williams-Day for her technical expertise, and their understudies for their tireless work and much appreciated effort.
