The Glenpatrick Drive infrastructure replacement project is set to begin this week, with construction crews working in phases to limit disruption. The work will take place along Glenpatrick Drive from 5th Avenue to the intersection near Glenbow Elementary School.
Temporary road, sidewalk and pathway closures will be required throughout the project, with detours and signage in place to help maintain access.
“This is a foundational project that protects essential services and improves how people move through the community,” said Drew Hyndman, executive director of Development and Infrastructure Services. “We’re focused on keeping residents informed and making sure they understand both the why and the how behind the work.”
Parking restrictions will be in effect during construction. Temporary parking areas will be made available, and some homes may experience short-term changes to water connections or waste and recycling pickup. The Town has committed to sharing updates in advance.
To minimize disruption, work near Glenbow Elementary School is scheduled for the summer months while school is out. The project is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
The multi-phase effort includes the full replacement of nearly 50-year-old water, sewer, stormwater and road infrastructure to ensure continued reliability and reduce the risk of service failures. The project also involves full road reconstruction, new sidewalks and pathways to support walking and cycling, and the installation of a traffic circle near Glenbow School to improve safety and traffic flow.
The Town has already hosted two open houses to inform residents—one to introduce the project, and another to outline detailed timelines and plans. Representatives from Water, Waste & Recycling and Fire Services were also on hand to answer questions.
