Bragg Creek volunteers needed

Bragg Creekers will be beautifying the hamlet this Sept. 13 in an effort to improve the aesthetic of the downtown core — which was hard hit by the June 20, 2013 flood — with their ‘Re-Create The Creek’ initiative.

“We’re looking for volunteers,” said Creeker and event organizer, Shannon Bailey. “All volunteers are welcome to show up at the Bragg Creek Community Centre, we’ll start at 9 a.m. but people can show up whenever they are able to…we will go until about 4 p.m.”

Volunteers are encouraged to bring rakes, trucks and muscles — the core group of organizers has gloves, garbage bags and masks.

The primary clean-up and planting areas will be White Ave. and nearby side streets.

Bailey said they will be doling out barbecue vouchers for volunteers to wrap up their day at the ‘Heroes In The Sky’ event which takes place at the Bragg Creek Mall Sept. 13 and 14.

The two-day event is a celebration, complete with a host of live, local bands, a licensed barbecue and family fun activities to fundraiser for the Redwood Meadows Emergency Services — the volunteer-run group of fire, rescue and medical first responders to the Bragg Creek, Redwood Meadows and surrounding Rocky View County areas.
