The layout of the community and the focus on the success of the Quarry has resulted in a perceived rift between our growing business community and our Historic Downtown businesses. How will you, as a mayor or councillor, foster a business community that is more cohesive?

As a councillor, I will look to reduce the rift between local businesses in our historic downtown core and business within the Quarry by engaging them in open dialogue.

It is important to have a balance in the types of business we have within our town. Both provide jobs, services and products our citizens need. It will be important council works with local organizations like the Chamber of Commerce and the Cochrane Business Network, because they will have expertise and connections to ensure everyone has a voice.

I believe that local businesses are important to the culture we have in Cochrane. They support local events, community groups and charities. As a councillor I would find a way help local business from the Historic Downtown to better advertise, by providing access to the town digital display boards. This will both generate a revenue for the town and give local business the chance to connect to customers.

Moving forward we need to better balance our growth, by focusing in only one area we create a deficit in others. As a councillor, I will connect businesses and reduce contention.
