COCHRANE— Creating delicious feasts to celebrate moms, Cochrane restaurants are preparing to help families celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday (May 10).
Half Hitch Brewing CEO Kyle Heier said Mother’s Day serves as the perfect opportunity to celebrate mom and show your appreciation.
“They do a great job in being mothers and 2020 has presented families in general, especially mothers, with a whole new set of challenges,” Heier said. “They’ve certainly been met with a whole bunch of new challenges.”
Ordering a nice meal paired with mom's favourite beer is the perfect break moms deserve, Heier said.
Moms are often the anchor of the household, he added, and it is always great to show your thanks for the work they do.
“Mothers should be holding a special place in everybody’s hearts,” Heier said.
The brewery has a variety of meals and beer available that will suit any mom's taste. Heier said he recommends the variety pack of beers paired with a homemade pizza that can feed the entire family.
Guy Joudrie owner of Guy’s Café and Bakery said the restaurant has an extraordinary meal in the works for Mother's Day.
Joudrie said he has his apron on and is ready to whip up a one-of-a-kind Mother’s Day dinner that features beef ribs. Dinners are available for preorder and are posted every Monday. Joudrie said he recommends placing an order as soon as possible as meals are limited.
“The moms have all said they’d love to have something like that— something fun, something different that is spring/summer oriented,” Joudrie said.
He noted his restaurant features to-go dinners each weekend and the meals have sold out for the past three weeks.
“From talking to all the customers for the last three weeks they deserve time off from cooking because they're not used to doing six and seven days a week and because they already do it six to seven times a week,” Joudrie said. “Moms should be able to sit back and enjoy watching their family enjoy a good meal and spend the time with them at the table as opposed to in the kitchen.”
Offering an Italian feast fit for a queen Chris Hartman owner and chef of Fence & Post said his restaurant will be celebrating moms for the entire week offering take-away meals from Wednesday to Sunday.
Decadent treats for mom include a creamy leek and lemon risotto with bay scallops, Caprese salad, homemade sourdough bread with roasted garlic butter and a selection of roast beef, salmon or a clam a La Parmesana and more, paired with rhubarb, strawberry and custard layer cake or chocolate and caramel cake for dessert.
Hartman noted that they also have wine and beer available to pair with meals.
COVID-19 has changed how the restaurant will be celebrating Mother’s Day, he said, explaining that typically they would be hosting a brunch for the holiday— That is not possible this year due to the public health emergency measures that have been put in place to combat the pandemic.
Fence & Post has set up an online ordering system through their website and can be delivered or pick up.
“Mom’s deserve a nice meal every day,” Hartman said. “It’s what all our mothers deserve.”
