Haven’t had time to get a head start on that Christmas list? The fifth annual Last Minute Christmas Market is the place to pick up those important holiday essentials, just in time for Christmas.
The Cochrane Farmers’ Market, in partnership with Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) Family Sports Centre, will be hosting the market Dec. 13 with over 70 vendors.
“It is truly a Christmas market with Farmers’ Market flavour,” said Valerie McCracken, market manager.
McCracken said that people could expect a lot of favourites from the summer market, with some new offerings as well. With the exception of just a few, McCracken said all of their vendors make, bake or grow their products.
McCracken said the market would include unique handcrafted items, select seasonal home decor and around 25 of the vendors would have food products including baking, breads, sweets and meats, along with mead and wine. She pointed out that they would also have some community tables with groups, such as Seniors of the Bow and the Cochrane Activettes. There will also be some of the buskers from the summer market performing live music throughout the day.
“It is great it being so close to Christmas, you can pick up these things and they are still going to be good because Christmas will only be a week and a bit away,” said McCracken. “It is about buying unique, handcrafted, one-of-a-kind products and supporting local artisans.”
The SLS Centre will have some family Christmas activities going on during the day as well. McCracken said there would be a chance to bring a camera and take a photo with Santa from 10 a.m. until noon, a skate with Santa on the ice between 1 – 2:15 p.m. and kid zone bouncers from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. McCracken said the event is free, but they do encourage people to make either cash or food donation to the Activettes. The event runs from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the SLS Centre. For more information email [email protected].
