CHS plans wind turbine meeting

A third information session and community consultation for the proposed small wind turbine by the Cochrane High School (CHS) Sustainable Development Committee is slated to take place at the CHS Lyceum from 6:30-8 p.m. on Oct. 25.

A third information session and community consultation for the proposed small wind turbine by the Cochrane High School (CHS) Sustainable Development Committee is slated to take place at the CHS Lyceum from 6:30-8 p.m. on Oct. 25.

The committee will outline the new location for their proposed 5kW small wind turbine,

“We’re going to try to make this presentation as visual as possible,” said Stephanie Bennett with the CHS committee, who was unable to disclose further details of the proposal, including the new location, until the information session.

Brenda Samborski, one of the driving opposition forces of the No Turbines in Town coalition and area resident said she was disappointed that the school was not able to provide their group a high-level overview prior to this week’s info session.

“We’re curious to see the location,” she said; the previous location was on CHS property and has been vehemently opposed by many living in the Cochrane Heights area.
