CISC hosts Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser on May 22

The Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee is planning to host a special Dinner and Silent Auction Fundrasier event on May 22.

The Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee (CISC) is hosting a special evening with their Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser event on May 22.

The event will take place at the Thanh Thy restaurant from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to the event is free, and guests can purchase a $25 dinner ticket that includes a chicken or vegetarian vermicelli bowl, which includes a spring roll and soft drink.

CISC board president, Kristina Kindree, said the event will also feature special guest speaker, Bukola Ojemakinde.

“She’s the executive director of the Ladies in the Family Foundation, and the Bridge to Oasis Foundation,” Kindree said. “It’s very exciting to hear from her at this event.”

Kindree said the Silent Auction will host several items up from grabs from around 39 different businesses around town. Additionally, bidding will take place both in-person and online.

“We have gift cards from local restaurants, grocery stores, and local businesses,” Kindree said. “This includes haircuts, wellness, skin care, you name it. We also have gift baskets donated from local businesses and the MLA office as well.”

All proceeds raised from the event will be dedicated to activities that help support newcomers to Cochrane.

“For example, it will help support our Culture Fest event in September, which also helps connect people within the community, including newcomers,” Kindree said.

Overall, Kindree said she looks forward to the event and outlines that it will be a fun evening for all attendees.

“I’m super excited, and I think it’s a great opportunity for people to come out, enjoy themselves, have dinner, while listening to a guest speaker,” Kindree said “All while enjoying the silent auction to bid on items that they would enjoy.”

Kindree said she would like to give a special thank you to the CISC Working Team for organizing this event. She would also like to give a special thanks to Thanh Thy for hosting the dinner and silent auction, as well as all the local businesses who helped sponsor the event.
