Clothesline is moving on to bigger and better things

The Cochrane Activettes’ Clothesline, a gently-used clothing store, will be opening its doors at its new location at 122 Fourth Ave. W today (Dec. 10) at 9 a.m.

The Cochrane Activettes’ Clothesline, a gently-used clothing store, will be opening its doors at its new location at 122 Fourth Ave. W today (Dec. 10) at 9 a.m.

According to Kathy Hubman of the Cochrane Activettes, the store helps hundreds of people each week by providing in expensive clothing options.

The new location will be bigger than the store’s previous location at 118 1 Ave W, which will allow the store to take in more donations.

“As the community grows, the store will grow with it,” said Hubman.

She’s confident the move will allow Clothesline to “serve the community better.”

The store recently received a large donation of “around 60 garbage bags of used clothing” from the Cochrane and Area Events Society’s (CAES) annual Stuff a Bus fundraiser.

The Activettes have teamed up with CAES and Canadian Tire for the past four years to fill a school bus full of donated toys and food to be distributed to various local initiatives run by the Activettes.

This includes their Share Your Christmas hamper program and the Cochrane Food Bank.

This year the fundraiser also accepted gently-used clothing to provide more stock for the Clothesline in its new location.

Clothesline accepts donations in-house only and its store hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents of Cochrane can expect an official opening event for the store in the new year.
