Cochrane Council Approves the 'Trail plan' pathway

In a landmark decision on July 8, 2024, the Cochrane Council approved the Trail Plan, a collaborative project with the City of Calgary and Alberta Parks, set to create a multi-use pathway and regional connector in the Bow Valley.

In a Town of Cochrane Council meeting on July 8, 2024, Council approved the Trail Plan in partnership with the City of Calgary and Alberta Parks.

The Trail is set to be a multi-use pathway and regional connector in the Bow Valley, supporting a range of recreation transportation such as walking, biking and other active modes of transportation. The trail will also be a major draw for tourism and economic development.

The new trail will allow people of all ages and abilities to explore the prairies, foothills, and mountain landscapes along the length of The Trail.

During the July 2nd, 2024 Committee of the Whole meeting, the Cochrane Rotary Club presented the Trail Plan, highlighting substantial achievements attained thus far.

In the recent meeting on July 8, Council approved the Trail Plan in partnership with the City of Calgary and Alberta Parks.

To make the plan happen, The Cochrane Rotary Club is leading a collaborative initiative among jurisdictional partners, including the Town of Cochrane, Alberta Parks, and the City of Calgary.

Cochrane’s adoption of the Trail Plan will allow the Cochrane Rotary and Jurisdictional Partners to begin the next steps of the multi-use pathway project.
