Emergency Preparedness Week is running from May 1 to 7, and the Town of Cochrane is using the national initiative to remind residents of the importance of thinking about safety.

“With 41 per cent of Albertans feeling unprepared for emergency situations, the week aims to help make preparedness approachable, understandable and attainable,” reads a news post on Cochrane.ca

This year’s focus of the nationwide campaign is to urge Canadians to add simple preparedness habits to their daily routine, such as discussing hypothetical emergencies with friends and family, preparing an emergency kit, and staying informed.
