Cochrane Eco Centre set to re-open June 2

The Cochrane Eco Centre will be reopening on Tuesday (June 2) with modified programs in place.

COCHRANE— The Cochrane Eco Centre will be reopening on Tuesday (June 2) with modified programs in place.

The centre opens a 9 a.m. Tuesday and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Modified programs have been put in place for public safety. The operational plan has been reviewed and approved by The Town Emergency Coordination Centre and meets provincial health measure requirements.

High-touch programs that have the potential to spread COVID-19 have been temporarily suspended. Half of the drop-off windows will be open to help maintain physical distancing of two-metres.

The Town is asking residents to sort and organize their waste before arriving at the Eco Centre to minimize time spent at the drop-off windows. The centre's gate will be traffic controlled to ensure only three vehicles will be allowed in the yard at a time, and only one person is allowed per vehicle.

Gloves must be worn when handling materials and staff will not be available to assist with recycling.

Available programs include cardboard, newspaper, newsprint, mixed paper, mixed rigid plastic containers, beverage containers, food waste, glass, mixed metal, branches, grass clippings, leaves, e-waste, used oil, oil filters, anti-freeze liquid, paint, propane tanks, textile/clothing donation and household hazardous waste.

The book room (including batteries, light bulbs, etc.), large appliances (fridges, washers, dryers, microwaves, etc.), styrofoam, plastic film and the bike exchange have been temporarily suspended.
