The Cochrane Ranch House hosted 300 students from schools from Calgary and area for the French for the Future forum on March 20.
“We are thrilled to bring this event to our community,” said Trish Rognvaldson a co-ordinator for French for the Future.
The event has been held in Calgary in previous years and organizers were excited to host the event for the first time in Cochrane.
Students who were in attendance experienced interactive workshops, educational workshops and were provided with the opportunity to practice their French outside the classroom.
Emilly Nattress, a French for the Future ambassador, said the forum helped develop student’s confidence in speaking, writing and understanding the French language.
Guest speakers presented and shared their experiences with the French language and the advantages of being bilingual.
“French is such a huge advantage to have in life from job applications to being able to speak to so many more people,” said Megan Cormier a George MacDougall High School and French for the Future ambassador.
