Cochrane Humane Society opens its doors to the public this Holiday season

The holiday season is a time when others invite you into their home, and that is just what the Cochrane and Area Humane Society (CAHS) is doing.

The CAHS will be holding its annual Christmas Party Open House Dec. 13 from 12-5 p.m.

Brooks Tower, fund development officer for CAHS, said the event has ‘wonderful energy surrounding Christmas and gives everyone a chance to see what the society is all about’.

“This event is one of many different ways we reach out to the wider community. It’s a way for all those pet lovers in this region to help us help our homeless animals,” said Tower. “The fact that it also gives people a chance to enjoy some holiday baking and crafts is a big bonus.”

Brooks said they have been holding the event since 2007 and also pointed out that they see a rise of animals coming into the shelter all through December.

He said people are invited to walk around the shelter and visit the animals, and even purchase a gift for the animals at Norm’s Nook and place it under the Christmas tree.

There will also be a bake sale, raffles, refreshments and prizes and people are invited to bring their pets for portraits with Santa.
