Cochrane in Brief

Residential street cleaning starts Monday

Residential street cleaning in Cochrane will officially start on Monday (April 19). Subdivisions will be scheduled for a block of three days to ensure a thorough sweep and allow for flexibility for weather or mechanical delays. To ensure an efficient sweep, cars are not to be parked on the streets during this time. Signs will be placed at neighbourhood entrances 48-hours before cleaning with information for that area. Once sweeps have been completed, entrance signs will be removed and on-street parking can resume. Residents are also asked to move curb ramps, hockey and basketball nets as these can restrict the work of the crews. Closing windows during scheduled sweeping days may be beneficial as the sweep can generate large amounts of dust. The full schedule can be found at cochrane.ca/StreetSweeping. The schedule is confirmed by 8 a.m. daily on facebook.com/TownofCochrane and Twitter @TownofCochrane.

Cochrane Community Awards deadline extended to the end of April

The deadline for the awards has been extended to Friday, April 30. The Cochrane Community Awards is an annual program that recognizes outstanding local citizens, community leaders, schools, businesses and organizations who help make Cochrane a great place to live. The awards celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements and contributions in the Cochrane community through a total of 13 award categories, including the prestigious Order of Cochrane 2021, presented by Cochrane’s mayor and council. All nominees will be recognized and completing a nomination is easy through the online form.
